Heidelberg to Unveil Anicolor Technology Advancements, Host Anicolor Customer Panel

July 2007
KENNESAW, GA—July 30, 2007—Presented for the first time with inline coating unit, Heidelberg will display Anicolor technology, the zoneless short inking unit with dampening system available on Heidelberg’s 4-color Speedmaster SM 52 line of presses, at Graph Expo 2007. This year’s visitors to Heidelberg booth #1200 will experience updated Anicolor technology and hear from customers who have incorporated Anicolor into their pressrooms. Recently recognized by PIA/GATF with a 2007 InterTech Technology Award, Anicolor makes very short runs profitable, using a standardized offset workflow.

“Anicolor is designed to deliver fast makeready times and color consistency with minimal waste sheets, and Heidelberg is pleased to report that users have confirmed the productivity and savings of this technology,” said Joerg Daehnhardt, director of product management for general commercial print, Heidelberg USA. “This year, we are taking the possibilities of our Anicolor press further than before in terms of options, and we invite printers to experience many of these new advancements at Graph Expo.”

Market demand for short runs continues to grow, making Heidelberg’s Anicolor offering with inline coating unit an especially attractive package for shops that require quick turnaround. Since Anicolor’s introduction last year, more press options have become available in combination with the technology to produce the best results. The extended stock range option allows for a wider range of applications. Printers now have the ability to print up to 24-pt. board with this option.

Due to the Heidelberg’s unique Alcolor dampening system, presses equipped with Anicolor can run metal or violet CtP plates, ensuring easy integration into any shop’s environment. The innovative anilox inking unit typically achieves outstanding print quality in less than 20 sheets, making offset a competitive and cost-effective option against digital presses for run lengths as short as 250 sheets and below. Another notable feature is the Vario-hickey-picking function, which slows down the dampening form roller and cleans the plate of dust particles with every revolution, automatically removing any hickeys.

Graph Expo visitors are invited to hear first-hand from customers who have decided to purchase an SM 52 Anicolor press since its first U.S. showing at Graph Expo 2006. A panel of Heidelberg customers will speak about this innovative technology on Monday, Sept. 10 at 4 p.m. at Heidelberg booth #1200 – right in front of the press. The first U.S. customer to incorporate Anicolor into their pressroom will be featured, and attendees will hear first-hand about the advantages of Anicolor technology.
