Graphics of the Americas 2010 to Feature Keynote by Microsoft Executive

November 18, 2009
MIAMI BEACH, FL—November 18, 2009—The reports are unanimous: Print is here to stay. However, it will exist as one of several types of communications that will be purchased by brand owners in the future. The new age of communications is on the horizon, and the place to see, hear, and touch all the options for your graphic arts future is Graphics of the Americas (GOA), celebrating its 35th anniversary February 25-27 in Miami Beach, FL.
"The sun is rising on a new year, a renewed economy, and a new era in communications," says George Ryan, President of GOA. "Every option for printers, prepress, publishers, packagers, and designers' growth and viability for the long-term will be in Miami. From wide format to cloud publishing, the wildly-popular crē8 conference, asset management, brand security and workflow automation - it will all be under the big top that is the Miami Beach Convention Center at the edge of beautiful South Beach."
"What a grand way to renew our spirit and enthusiasm for this new age of communications," says Frank Romano, RIT professor emeritus, author, and curator of print communications' historical records. "Graphics of the Americas 2010 isn't about 'how do I survive' - it's about how exciting print's future is going to be!"
One of those who will paint a picture of our likely future at the GOA 2010 Keynote Address is August de Los Reyes, Principal Director of User Experience for Microsoft Surface. At Microsoft, August manages a team dedicated to pioneering natural and intuitive ways to interact with technology.
More Big Names including 200 Exhibitors
GOA 2010 outdoes itself in securing the biggest and brightest stars of the industry. Close to 200 exhibitors include HP, Presstek, Riso, and Van Son Holland. Special bonus sessions are being hosted by companies including Heidelberg and Adobe, while educational, theoretical, and practical sessions covering virtually every facet of technology, strategy, and management are being planned.
GOA Showcases Sessions in Spanish, Brand Security, & crē8 Conference
Sessions in Spanish: Graphics of the Americas has become known for catering to its significantly high number of Spanish-speaking attendees, and does so again in 2010 with 12 sessions being presented in Spanish.
Brand Protection Conference (Counterfeiting Issues): The alarming prevalence of counterfeit print around the world, an $800 billion dollar industry itself, has catalyzed strong counter-action by world governments, associations, and especially manufacturers. In years past, the Brand Protection Conference used dramatic demonstrations of true counterfeiting scenarios, such as counterfeit prescription documentation, to convey the ease in which these illegal activities are undertaken. This year, conference coordinator Dick Warner has arranged to illustrate one of the most prevalent and damaging forms of counterfeiting: wine labels. An incorporated U.S. winery is participating in the demonstration.
