GRAPH EXPO Product PreviewAugust 2010
Here's an exclusive, pre-show preview showcasing new products and services submitted by several exhibitors that will be displaying their wares at GRAPH EXPO 2010 in Chicago from Oct. 3-6.
The Presstek 75DI is a highly automated, 29˝ digital offset press that is available in four- to 10-color configurations. It is also available with an optional coater and a full range of productivity options. The 75DI features 300 lpi or stochastic screening, six-minute, job-to-job turnover and a small environmental footprint.
Hewlett-Packard will display its new portfolio of digital printing solutions, including the HP Indigo 7500 digital press, and HP Scitex LX800, FB700 and Designjet Z5200 large-format printing technologies.
The Sterling Digipunch will be showcased by Spiel Associates. Designed for digital and commercial printers, it can punch up to 60,000 sph. It features a variable pile lift, which allows for slowing the machine down for difficult jobs, and can punch sheets with covers or tabs intermixed. A touchscreen automates setup/changeovers and prompts operators when to lubricate or sharpen the die. The machine can punch sheets from 41⁄2x51⁄2˝ to 12x14˝ for comb, coil and double-loop wire—or any hole pattern. Spiel will also display its Sterling Doublebinder, a layflat perfect binder that can bind up to 300 books/hr. It glues the spine, as well as between the sheets. Books dry instantly with no messy cleanup.
manroland will showcase several new offset products, including the R700 HS (up to 18,000 sph); the R900P large-format perfecting press; and autoprint, for advanced sheetfed automation. The company will also introduce Inline Impress, a coating embosser, futureproofing on sheetfed presses and foiler indexing.
The GammStack compensating stacker will be featured by GammTech Corp. Using a patent pending, two-grid indexing system, it delivers precisely aligned bundles for a wide variety of basis weights, even at high press speeds.
The Print+ Messenger color inkjet system will be shown by Pitney Bowes. Providing full-color envelope printing capability on high-speed inserting systems, the system allows users to add colorful, data-driven messages; postal barcodes; addresses; and relevant marketing offers to the outside of an envelope. Print and mail operations can use white envelope stock to eliminate pre-printed envelope storage, improve inventory management, merge jobs and increase postal density for greater postal discounts.
The TA-25 multi-side tabber will debut from Neopost. The TA-25 offers production speeds of up to 25,000/hr. and booklet tabbing (2+1, side-to-side) at 15,000 pieces/hr. The tabletop tabber simultaneously applies up to three tabs to the top and side or opposite sides of a booklet or self-mailer.
