Goss International Announces Drupa 2008 Lineup

March 2008
BOLINGBROOK, IL—March 5, 2008—With the theme New Ways for Print, Goss International will demonstrate innovative technologies, unique opportunities and an expanded application range for web offset production at drupa 2008.

A new Goss press system will be in full operation at the show, incorporating technologies that create a unique and highly productive alternative for some traditional sheetfed applications. Additional printing unit exhibits on the Goss International stand in hall 17 will include Magnum 4, Uniliner, FPS and Sunday 4000 models, all with new features and capabilities. The company will also highlight the world’s first 96-page Sunday 5000 web press and demonstrate its latest Magnapak and Pacesetter finishing systems.

“Goss innovations like our M-600, Uniliner, Sunday, and FPS press platforms and DigiRail, Ecocool, Autoplate and Pacesetter technologies have been groundbreaking highlights of recent drupa shows,” explains Goss International CEO Bob Brown. “We will extend this record of technology leadership this year and emphasize how we are working with companies of all sizes and requirements to create unique new opportunities.”

Short runs, wide webs, advanced automation

New technologies aimed at shorter run lengths and higher pagination will be among the Goss International developments at Drupa. The company will profile installations that are utilizing its exclusive Automatic Transfer (AT) Sunday presses for continuous printing. More than a dozen presses with the Autoplate and Automatic Transfer technology combination are now in operation worldwide, including eight-unit presses that complete full-color job changes on the fly.

Goss International will also exhibit key technologies of the new 96-page Sunday 5000 press and present simulations showing how its gapless blanket technology, precision machining and cooperation with auxiliary and consumables suppliers enable the wider platform. The first Sunday 5000 press will be installed in Italy later this year with a web width of 2860 millimeters (112 inches).

Comprehensive Goss Web Center workflow systems for commercial and newspaper applications will also be demonstrated at Drupa, including new automation and waste reduction features.

Compact and versatile newspaper presses

The compact Goss FPS press, first introduced at Drupa 2004, will again be featured with slide-apart units, cut-off change capabilities and a wide range of web-width and ribbon options. The first FPS system now prints two million coldset, heatset and combined products weekly at Independent News and Media in Northern Ireland. A second installation is currently underway in The Netherlands, and a triple-width FPS press will be installed in the United States following drupa.

Goss Uniliner and Magnum presses remain cornerstones of the Goss International portfolio and popular choices for versatile newspaper and semi-commercial applications worldwide. New Uniliner features demonstrated at drupa will include automated plate changing. An eight-page Magnum press tower will be displayed with a new level shaftless drive system and three-form inker.
