Good News: New Plants Being Opened

April 2009
MONTREAL—Quebecor World ushered in the opening of its new co-mailing facility in Somerset, NJ, with the addition of two new 30-pocket machines.

The new capacity allows more publishers and catalogers to take advantage of the benefits of co-mailing. Quebecor chose the Somerset mail consolidation site due to its strategic proximity to the densely populated Northeast.

Another printer, St. Joseph Print, plans to open a new 140,000-square-foot printing plant in Concord, Ontario.

St. Joseph will relocate two suburban Toronto facilities into the new facility as it adds $25 million in new printing technology. The new building will be situated next to the printer’s existing, 300,000-square-foot operation. St. Joseph specializes in magazines, catalogs and flyers.

Sun Printing has opened a $6 million printing plant in Columbia, SC, which is expected to add up to 50 jobs by the end of 2009, according to The State. The Orangeburg, SC-based company employs 150 at six locations in the United States and Mexico, the newspaper reported.

Also, Dome Printing of Sacramento, CA, has opened Dome Direct, a 40,000-square-foot digital printing, direct mail and fulfillment center.
