Fort Orange Press and The Pressroom Form Alliance

May 12, 2011
ALBANY, NY/BALLSTON SPA, NY—May 12, 2011—Fort Orange Press, a leading sheetfed printing company, and The Pressroom, specializing in digital printing, have formed a strategic alliance to consolidate their offset printing operations in the Fort Orange Press facility in Albany while maintaining digital production at The Pressroom’s location in Ballston Spa.

The alliance expands the capabilities of both organizations while creating efficiencies in resources and generating cost savings for both companies.

“This is a decisive move that accelerates our strategy by offering even greater value to our customers and partners,” said Robert F. Witko, president and CEO of Fort Orange Press.

The addition of digital printing capabilities further strengthens the Fort Orange Press suite of products and services.

By offering both offset and digital expertise, the company builds upon recent capital investments including a Komori six-color plus aqueous coating printing press and a complete redesign and technological upgrade of its corporate office. As a result, Fort Orange Press can easily support the offset printing work and resources formerly housed by The Pressroom.

Similarly, as president and CEO of The Pressroom, Eric Butler is prepared for the increased digital workflow stemming from Fort Orange Press. “Customers that had to go to multiple places will find that together we can serve all of their needs. We are committed to maximizing the synergies between our organizations while maintaining a competitive position in the marketplace.”

The Pressroom recently invested in a Canon 6000 digital press providing an excellent solution for short run process color printing.

Both Witko and Butler agree that the key to success in the printing business is the maximum utilization of resources and capabilities. Together they are confident that the customers of both companies will realize and appreciate the convenience and benefits of this new alliance.
