Family Sues Manufacturer Over Worker’s Death

CHICAGO—The family of a worker killed at the Chicago Tribune printing plant last month is suing an equipment manufacturer, claiming it was “negligent and careless” in the design of its conveyor system, the newspaper reported. Isiah Shannon died May 26 in a conveyor belt accident while working, according to the lawsuit, with equipment made by Vertical Systems International.
The suit, filed in Cook County (IL) Circuit Court, was brought by Shannon’s brother, Richard, on behalf of the victim’s estate. The newspaper is not named in the suit.
