July 19, 2013
BARBERTON, OH—An employee of PPG Industries was killed Monday night after getting entangled in a paper rolling machine, the Akron Beacon Journal reported. The employee, Wendy Breiding, 51, died around 8:30 p.m.

The Medical Examiner's Office ruled the death was accidental. An investigation has been launched by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

Pittsburgh-based PPG Industries told the newspaper, "First and foremost, PPG's thoughts and prayers are with the employee and family. We are cooperating fully with local authorities, as well as conducting an internal review of the incident. Since the investigation is ongoing, we have no additional information at this time."

PPG, which employs 150 at its Barberton facility, manufactures optical products and silicas used in the printing industry, as well as tire, food and footwear, among others.
