EFI Fiery-Enabled Printers Now Support Mobile Printing with Apple iOS 5
FOSTER CITY, CA—Oct. 13, 2011—EFI announced that EFI Fiery-driven printers from companies such as Canon, Konica Minolta, Kyocera, Ricoh and Xerox will immediately support printing from Apple iPads and iPhones running the recently announced iOS 5. The direct mobile printing feature of EFI Fiery controllers provides employees, customers and visitors with printing capabilities to remain productive while using their favorite Apple mobile devices.
The Fiery direct mobile printing feature allows users to directly print with a wireless connection through the native print feature from Apple iPads and iPhones. Most new Fiery Driven enterprise printers incorporate this standard feature, and it is available as a free upgrade to many existing printers. iPad and iPhone users do not need to install an app or printer driver on their devices. Employees can print while moving around to different departments, conference rooms and other locations in the company on the secure wireless network. Visitors can print using their Apple device on a guest network.
“With more and more people using iPads and iPhones in business settings, the demands for mobile printing from these devices has grown substantially,” said John Henze, vice president of Fiery marketing at EFI. “We first introduced printing support for mobile devices with Apple iOS 4.2 in late 2010, and we remain committed to extending the utility of our products and adding value to our customers’ existing printing infrastructure.”
