Dynagram and Global Graphics to Demonstrate Live JDF Workflows

May 2008
QUEBEC, CANADA—May 15, 2008—Dynagram, the leader in innovative imposition technologies for the commercial print, digital print and prepress industries, and Global Graphics, world leading developer of technology for document and print solutions and developer of the Harlequin RIP®, will present live workflow demonstrations at drupa, in collaboration with MIS system providers GamSys and NovaVision. The demonstrations will illustrate live jobs created in an MIS system, moving to imposition and then sent to a RIP for final print processing. The live demos will be presented at the JDF Experience Parc on six occasions throughout the event.

JDF Workflows

During these demonstrations, the MIS creates a JDF ticket describing the job details and parameters about the product, with high-level stripping information to help with imposition preparation.

Dynagram’s DynaStrip Imposition software then imports the JDF file from the MIS system to automatically create the imposition layout. The layout is completed by applying mark sets and any fine tuning is done by the operator to complete the job. The final imposed layout is then delivered to the RIP as a JDF file, providing the imposition instructions, the flats containing the marks, and references to source documents.

The Global Graphics Harlequin RIP then processes the job for final printing using the layout description and PDF source files specified by incoming JDF file from DynaStrip.

In addition, a JDF imposition printing workflow will be shown with the new inpO2 version 3.0, Dynagram’s powerful imposition software for Adobe Acrobat, and the Harlequin RIP.

‘’Dynagram is an early adopter and strong believer in the JDF standard” said Francois Guerard, CEO of Dynagram. “These live JDF workflow demonstrations allow us to demonstrate that JDF has become a reality and is making a strong impact in real production environment.’’

“JDF can provide significant value for all sizes of print business, which is why Global Graphics has been heavily involved in CIP4 and its predecessor, CIP3, since 1997” said Martin Bailey, CTO at Global Graphics. “The demonstrations between Dynagram and Global Graphics illustrate that rather well; showing a workflow suitable for very small sites and falling entirely within prepress alongside those initiated by MIS.”

DRUPA is held from May 29, 2008 through June 11th in Düsseldorf, Germany. DynaStrip, inpO2 and INposition will be demonstrated at Dynagram’s stand in the Canadian Pavilion, Hall 9, booth E61, and in the JDF Experience Parc, Hall 7, booth 7.0J, as well as in many partner’s stands. Global Graphics will be located in the drupa innovation parc, Hall 7, Booth 7.0 D.
