HSR Forces Extension of Donnelley-Bowne Deal

CHICAGO—The termination date of the merger agreement between RR Donnelley and Bowne & Co. has been extended from Oct. 23 to Jan. 23, 2011. Still, both parties expect the transaction, which would give Donnelley a stronghold in the financial printing realm, to be completed before year's end.
In May, the two companies received a second request for information from the Federal Trade Commission under the Hart-Scott-Rodino (HSR) Antitrust Improvements Act of 1976. Completion of the transaction is subject to the expiration or termination under the HSR Act and other customary closing conditions.
