Domtar Launches Innovative Online Resource for Designers

February 2007
PALO ALTO, CA—February 14, 2007—In response to Domtar’s research with its designer customer base, the company has launched a dedicated website which aims to meet designer’s needs for an inspirational and informative online resource. The Domtar Designer Corner (www.domtardesignercorner.com) has been created by designers for designers, and offers industry news and events, designer profiles, eco-smart design options, and tips for selecting the best paper to bring designs to life. PaperSpecs, an on-line provider of paper knowledge to the design and print industries, and providers of a database that features more than 4,200 papers from over 65 mills and manufacturers, will support the site with an exclusive series of Tips on Paper articles which can be accessed from the landing page.

Sabine Lenz, the founder of PaperSpecs, produces an independent, comprehensive interactive paper guide and weekly e-newsletter specifically geared towards the design and print industry. With over 15 years of experience as a graphic designer in Germany, Australia, and the U.S., she is recognized as a leading authority and is often in demand to speak on issues and educational topics related to the paper industry. For more information about PaperSpecs or to sign up for their free newsletter, go to www.paperspecs.com.

“With the launch of the new Domtar Designer Corner, we are once again demonstrating our commitment to respond to our customers’ needs by developing innovative resources that enhance and facilitate their work,” said Tewfik Atia, Marketing Communication Manager for Domtar’s EarthChoice line of environmentally responsible papers. “Choosing the right paper is usually the first crucial step in creating an outstanding piece, which is why we’ve gathered tips from industry experts and provide designers with creative materials.”

“Our team is constantly in search of the latest and most reliable facts about paper and our research often becomes the imperative first step in helping professional designers create an award-winning piece,” said Lenz. “We look forward to sharing our independent findings and insight with the design community at the new Domtar Designer Corner.”

For those looking for even more insight, the PaperSpecs website also offers tips on paper buying and a weekly free newsletter. For members, PaperSpecs also offers an online catalog of the most recently released swatchbook. Using the PaperSpecs’ service, members are shown how to order the complimentary swatchbooks directly from the mills. PaperSpecs also assists in assembling samples and swatchbooks for client projects, and members gain valuable insight in paper specifying and print buying issues.
