Digital Road Show a Success

November 2003
CLEVELAND—Great Lakes Lithograph recently served as a stop on Heidelberg's national digital road show. Held in conjunction with NexPress 2100 customers, the road shows provide a venue for printers, print buyers, graphic artists and other print media professionals to exchange ideas with peers on the digital printing industry.

Audiences interact with presenters, as well as participate in hands-on demonstrations to produce digital applications and learn to successfully and creatively use variable data.

Heidelberg has hosted four sessions this year, with an average of 80 attendees per event.

"Interest in the road show events continues to rise and participants are genuinely interested in digital printing. They are serious about using this technology for their work," notes Niels Winther, president of Heidelberg USA. "The interest in learning more about digital printing supports the early signs that our industry is recovering and further indicates that print media professionals want new capabilities that will make them more competitive."

Cleveland attendees participated in seminars given throughout the day by Elyse Mitchell from LB Works, a Leo Burnett company, Sean Cummins, proprietor of Creative Digital Color in Chicago, and Think 121, a variable data software company.

Along with professional workshops and seminars, guests were also treated to plant tours of Great Lakes Lithograph, live demonstrations on the NexPress 2100 and an overview of Internet-to-print capabilities.

"This was a great event for us and we couldn't be happier with the way it turned out," says Jim Schultz, chairman of Great Lakes Lithograph. "It gave us a great opportunity to strengthen our relationship with our customers and meet new ones while continuing to build our relationship with Heidelberg. We have already obtained new business directly because of the event."
