Digital Meets Offset Power in manroland’s Booth

CHICAGO—August 16, 2011—“Digital Meets Offset Power” is the theme of manroland’s exhibit at GRAPH EXPO 2011. It focuses on technology, automation, and manroland’s ability to integrate a broad range of offset printing equipment and related technologies into customizable workflows that meet specific customer needs.

Vince Lapinski, CEO of manroland North America, said, “Digitally integrated printing techonlogies are the wave of the future. We are pleased to demonstrate these advanced integrated solutions that allow our customers to improve capacity and productivity, reduce operating costs and minimize the total cost of consumables. This could be our best GRAPH EXPO yet.”

Sheetfed Makereadies Slashed

The Roland 700 DirectDrive press uses an exclusive double clutch mechanism and alternating drive technologies to perform change over functions simultaneously which reduces makeready cycles by two-thirds. With its ability to perform numerous print jobs in a short period of time, the Roland 700 DirectDrive is the offset answer for short-run printing markets. Added features such as stepless feeder and delivery pile control, fiber-optic communications, and print length correction on the fly make DirectDrive technology the bridge between digital and offset.

Advances in Web Automation

With a range of options that provide the highest degree of automation on the market, and a host of further groundbreaking developments, manroland’s answer to one-touch printing, autoprint, is by far the most operator-friendly web printing system on the market today. The design of the web presses themselves not only relieves the operator of numerous work-steps, but all manual tasks are ergonomically optimized within the system.

The new manroland control console offers by far the most integrated functionality to date, and is easier to operate than ever before. The fully automated printing process has been streamlined with fewer but more powerful autoprint sequences that are clearly arranged. The control console reliably guides the operator through the production process like a pilot’s navigation system.
