EFI Buys Streamline Development, PrintStream Software
FOSTER CITY, CA—Electronics For Imaging (EFI) announced Thursday that it has acquired Streamline Development LLC, the provider of PrintStream ERP/MIS software focused on mailing and fulfillment services for the printing industry. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
PrintStream (now “EFI PrintStream”) is known for its sophisticated direct mail and warehouse management/fulfillment tools. EFI will now leverage these strengths by offering the PrintStream Warehouse Management/Fulfillment module as an add-on module to a number of EFI’s existing ERP/MIS products, according to Marc Olin, GM of EFI’s Advanced Professional Print Software (“APPS”) division.
“While PrintStream is the first product we have acquired as part of our new consolidation strategy, we will be actively seeking out additional print ERP/MIS solutions worldwide to consolidate,” he said, noting in a followup phone conversation his goal of completing at least three more acquisitions this year.
EFI PrintStream will continue to be supported, but no longer offered to new customers. However, EFI will be offering special incentives and assistance to encourage existing PrintStream clients to transition to one of its four platforms. “By concentrating our investment and efforts on Monarch, Radius, Pace and PrintSmith, we can ensure that the largest development and support teams in the industry are delivering the best possible solutions to give our clients the best chance to succeed in today’s challenging business environment,” Olin added. Although he would not disclose the installed base of Streamline customers, Olin said that the number of PrintStream users is “in the low hundreds.”
Laurence Snyder, CEO of Streamline Development, and the majority of his staff will join EFI, and will assist in the development of EFI’s core platforms going forward. Olin noted that Streamline will maintain its office in San Rafael, CA, but a move to a smaller space in San Rafael will be evaluated. He expects the total integration process to take three to six months, beginning with EFI's Monarch MIS offering.
The upcoming EFI annual users' conference, Connect, will now include a track for PrintStream customers, covering detailed roadmap information about upcoming releases, as well as what new features and functions are planned during the coming year. Connect takes place April 26-29 at the Wynn in Las Vegas. For more information about Connect, visit here.
