Original Impressions “Perfects” the Art of Fast Turnaround with Speedmaster SM 52

Original Impressions, a full service marketing communications company headquartered in Miami, that specializes in creative design, Web development, printing, mailing/fulfillment and strategic marketing consulting, recently installed a Speedmaster SM 52 five-color perfecting press with aqueous coater and high-pile delivery. The new press, which is deployed chiefly to short-run, quick-turn commercial work, will enable the company to meet the demand for even faster turnarounds, as well as to eliminate the need for offline coating and varnishing.

Furthermore, said company vice president Henry Herrera, the SM 52 turns over quickly and efficiently from straight to perfecting mode, while the fully automated perfecting device ensures smooth sheet travel and excellent register accuracy.
According to company officials, Original Impressions is very satisfied with the remote and on-site support it receives from Heidelberg’s service organization, which sees to the repair and maintenance needs of Original Impressions’ extensive pressroom line-up, including a Speedmaster XL 105 six-color press installed in 2008, five-color SM 102, a two-color Heidelberg SORZ, a pair of Printmaster QM 46-2s, and a 10x15” Windmill letterpress. In the company’s full-service bindery, cutting is accomplished with the aid of two 45” Polar cutters.
Founded in 1982, Original Impressions is the only Green-e Marketplace Certified printer in the state of Florida, producing materials with 100 percent renewable energy. This has earned the Company recognition from the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s Green Power Partners Program. It is also Triple Certified and authorized to purchase the three globally recognized sustainable papers: FSC, SFI and PEFC.

The company is also one of the “Top 100 Minority Businesses in South Florida” and one of the “Top 500 Hispanic Companies in the U.S.,” as well as a Certified Minority Supplier at the local, state and national levels. With $23 million in annual sales and a staff of 190+, the Company provides services to a wide variety of industries, including Banking, Beverages, Casual Dining Restaurants, Cosmetics, Cruise Lines, Fragrance, Healthcare, Hospitality, Liquor Quick Service Restaurants and more.

Rose Press Makes It Two for One with Automated Platesetter from Heidelberg

Rose Press, Mount Vernon, NY, reports the installation of a Suprasetter A75 CTP device configured for use with Heidelberg Saphira processless plates. The new platesetter replaces a pair of competitive devices, and enables the firm to image 50 percent more plates for use in all of the company’s Heidelberg presses: a Printmaster QM 46-2, five-color GTO, two-color SM 74, five-color CD 74, and six-color CD 74. Owner Pat Mondesano appreciates the new machine’s convenient, smaller footprint, as well as the automatic plate-loading system that enables hands-off plate production when needed.
“We’ve had no problems whatever,” Mondesano said, adding that he has always been “very happy” with Heidelberg service and support of his pressroom equipment, and expects the same will be true of the new Suprasetter.
Rose Press specializes in “expedited” printing where, as Mondesano put it, “the fires are hot and nobody knows how to put them out as well or as consistently as we do.” The company serves a client base located throughout the NY/NJ/CT tri-state area.
