PA Printer Swindled by Salesman

April 2010

EXTON, PA—A former print salesman for Apple Press faces a number of charges for allegedly bilking the company of $6,200 in commission fees for fictitious job orders totaling more than $61,000, according to the Daily Local News of West Chester, PA.

Christopher Mercier faces a number of charges including theft, receiving stolen property, forgery and unlawful use of a computer, the newspaper reported.

Mercier allegedly submitted 11 orders from eight different phony firms for a combined $61,000. When Apple Press attempted to deliver the completed jobs and bill the customers, it discovered that the orders were fake and the clients nonexistent.

Mercier, who left the country on a business trip for another company, was arrested Feb. 19 when he got off a plane at Newark International Airport in New Jersey, the Daily Local News said. He was to be extradited to Pennsylvania to face the charges.
