Copy Craft Printers Launches New Digital Printing Operation Featuring HP Graphic Arts Technologies

July 2007
PALO ALTO, CA—July 31, 2007—HP today announced that Copy Craft Printers has launched a new digital printing operation leveraging HP digital technology as well as the business development services of the HP Graphic Arts Capture program. To expand its service offering, Copy Craft Printers installed several new HP solutions, including:

• an HP Indigo press 5000

• an HP Designjet 5500 large-format printer for posters and banners

• a Videojet PrintMail WideArray System featuring HP Specialty Printing Systems thermal inkjet heads.

In addition, the company added a complete digital bindery department, including UV coating capabilities.

The company selected its six-color HP Indigo press 5000 after reviewing competing digital solutions and finding they did not offer the same quality or capabilities. HP Indigo presses use a liquid ink as opposed to dry toner, enabling true offset-quality printing. Models in the HP Indigo press line also support non-paper substrates such as plastics and magnetic media.

Based in Lubbock, Texas, Copy Craft Printers has established a national reputation for quality by pioneering the use of 300-line screen waterless offset printing. With an active internet marketing campaign, Copy Craft Printers serves customers all over the United States.

“Our average offset printing job is just under $1,000. Adding digital capabilities is a natural extension of our product line,” states Danny Stockton, CEO.

The company hired an internal digital marketing specialist who works directly with an HP consultant while providing support to the entire sales team. Through the HP Indigo Capture Program, Copy Craft Printers, which has a 17-person sales force, received comprehensive training on selling digital printing.

In just three months, the new digital printing operation has already exceeded initial company forecasts. In addition, Copy Craft Printers’ approach to digital sales is not only generating more work for its HP Indigo press, it is increasing sales in the firm’s offset printing operation. “The core of our business and the values we embrace revolve around the relationship we have with our customers,” said Richard Raimondi, vice president and general manager, U.S. Graphic Arts Business, HP Imaging and Printing Group. “The HP Graphic Arts Capture program together with HP print technology helps our customers realize opportunities that otherwise maybe difficult to acknowledge and ‘capture.’ Copy Craft is a dynamic organization and we are excited that our products, tools, training, and programs are enablers to their success.”
