ATLANTA—Colour 101, an FSC-certified commercial printing company established in 1997, recently added digital printing capabilities to supplement its Heidelberg Speedmaster 74 for shorter runs and to allow variable data capabilities. The woman-owned company acquired an MGI Meteor DP60 Pro digital press, which can print on a variety of paper and synthetic substrates, including envelopes, and on sheets up to 13x47˝.
"With the Meteor DP60 Pro, we can now offer our clients a broader range of print solutions without compromising the quality standards our clients have come to expect from us," says Nancy Lepera, owner.
The printer purchased the press from Paper Handling Solutions, the Southeastern distributor for MGI USA.

BAY CITY, MI—F.P. Horak, a $30 million full-service print provider, recently purchased a six-color Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 75 with aqueous coater and extended delivery to replace an older five-color press. Since its installation, the company has experienced greater crossover between its offset and digital capabilities, allowing its sheetfed division to pick up a greater range of short-run jobs.
According to F.P. Horak President Tim Dust, the Speedmaster XL 75's 18,000 sph running speed and faster makereadies "permit us to pound out the work more quickly. As a result, we have reduced pricing in some product categories and improved delivery in all categories."
