Graph Expo Attendance Up
RESTON, VA—The Graphic Arts Show Co. (GASC) released attendance figures for the recent Graph Expo 2011 trade show in Chicago, which revealed an increase in attendance over the 2010 event. Among the 20,451 participants (including exhibitors), there were 13,426 actual verified attendees/buyers—up 7 percent from 2010. The number of high-level decision-makers rose 12 percent, with 8,026 unique buyer companies. GASC defines "actual verified attendees" as registered on-site show goers who are counted only once.
Wurst Shuttering NC Plant
KANSAS CITY, MO—Henry Wurst Inc. will be closing its Apex, NC, facility, according to the Triangle Business Journal. The move, which will cost 55 workers their jobs, is expected to cease most operations by Dec. 16.
Jackson P&M Shuts Down
JACKSON, MI—A little more than a year after acquiring Champion Printing and Mailing, which included a relocation to a new facility, Jackson Printing and Mailing has closed its doors, the Jackson Citizen Patriot reported. The third-generation family firm, which opened its doors in 1940, did not give a reason for its decision to close. A four-color offset and digital printing operation, Jackson employed 12 workers.
Name Change for Macomb
CLINTON TWP, MI—Macomb Printing has changed its name to Macomb Marketing | Media. There has been no change in management and the company will continue to offer the same print manufacturing, but Macomb will include new offerings in its services mix.
RRD Gets Contract Extension
CHICAGO—RR Donnelley (RRD) has been awarded a $550 million, multi-year contract extension by American Media (AMI). Under the terms of the pact, RRD will provide a broad array of products and services in North America and the United Kingdom, including premedia, magazine production, variable digital printing and transpromo communications, as well as new digital and electronic communications services through its CustomPoint Solutions Group. RR Donnelley will produce all new AMI launches, plus print and bind the popular weekly titles OK! and Star. PI
