Coloredge Thanks Printing Community for Support During Hurricane Sandy
NEW YORK—Nov. 12, 2012—Coloredge, the coast-to-coast provider of visual branding solutions, is very appreciative of the support it has received from the graphic communications industry during Hurricane Sandy. Like many companies with plants in the tri-state area, Coloredge’s Carlstadt, NJ, production plant was adversely affected by flooding from the hurricane.
The company would like to thank everyone who called and offered assistance, especially its fellow competitors who helped outsource to their facilities to make critical pre-holiday shipments to Coloredge customers during this very busy season.
Coloredge CEO Terry A. Tevis commented, “As we work through the aftermath of the hurricane, I want to personally reach out to our customers for their concern and patience and to our friendly competitors who helped us meet customer deadlines. The outpouring of support we received was truly heart warming.”
Coloredge was able to dry the plant out quickly and begin some limited production with undamaged equipment only three days after the storm. Eight days after having water on the shop floor, business started to return to near normal. With adequate insurance coverage and new equipment on order, management anticipates business returning to full production by Nov. 28, 2012.
Redundant equipment and services in its multi-plant configuration was key to the organization’s recovery success. For example, some critical work on the East Coast was sent to their Burbank, CA, facility for continuity of production. A team of seven critical skills employees was sent to Burbank as soon as the airport was open and the West Coast team has been working 24/7 since the hurricane hit.
Coloredge’s recovery was made possible in large part by their very dedicated work force.
Tevis further stated, “Simply imagine employees working off a generator with little heat and then grinding their way home to a house or apartment with no power. So my heartfelt thanks go to all those wonderful employees who helped to get us back on our feet quickly while dealing with so much in their own personal lives.”
Employees’ homes are also returning to normal and everyone is now safe.
