Canon Strengthens Position in Light Production Market with imagePRESS C800 Digital Color Press Series

MELVILLE, NY—September 3, 2014—Canon U.S.A., a leader in digital imaging solutions, today announced the new imagePRESS C800 Digital Color Press Series, which combines new and proven technology to help deliver the level of print quality, productivity and flexibility expected of the imagePRESS line, in a compact, scalable footprint. Comprised of the imagePRESS C800 and imagePRESS C700, this series is designed for small-to-medium commercial, franchise, in-plant and quick printers, and is equipped to handle a variety of media options, including heavyweight coated stock, textured stock and envelopes.

“Building on Canon’s expertise with new toners, lasers, and registration systems, the imagePRESS C800 Series expands Canon’s family of digital color offerings and strengthens the company’s position in the light production market,” said Jim Hamilton from InfoTrends.

The imagePRESS C800 Series incorporates technologies from Canon’s flagship imagePRESS C7011VP/S Digital Color Press Series, including:

  • Canon’s proprietary Gloss Optimization technology, which tailors the gloss level of the toner image to that of the media used, similar to offset printed results.
  • The Advanced Image Transfer Belt that increases toner transfer efficiency on smooth as well as uneven media surfaces, affording these devices extended media-handling capabilities, which allows users to produce an impressive range of print products.

“Canon’s imagePRESS line is known for its ability to provide high-quality output, wide media support and outstanding productivity,” noted Junichi Yoshitake, senior vice president and general manager, Business Imaging Solutions Group, Canon U.S.A. “With the imagePRESS C800 Series we are pleased to provide customers with the tools necessary to lessen operational costs while expanding the scope of services they can offer to their respective customer base. We look forward to continuing to raise the bar for our customers in the production print market.”

Vivid, Accurate and Consistent Image Quality
An array of new features including red laser R-VCSEL technology enables the imagePRESS C800 Digital Press Series to produce outstanding-quality output at up to 2,400 x 2,400 dpi resolution. The systems’ new CV Toner and other innovative technologies allow users to enjoy color consistency for predictable quality output—crucial for repetitive jobs in print production.
