Cadmus-Cenveo, Total Printing Systems and Integrity Graphics Install Standard Finishing Equipment

ANDOVER, MA—June 21, 2010—Standard Finishing Systems, a leading supplier of postpress and paper handling solutions for the graphic arts and print on demand markets, has brought feeding and finishing efficiency to several new customers:

Cadmus-Cenveo recently added a new Standard Horizon BQ-470 four-clamp automated binder, equipped with the Standard Horizon HT-101 in-line three-knife trimmer, to support on-demand bookbinding at their digital print facility in Hurlock, MD. The binder's intelligent, icon-based color touchscreen provides quick, easy and automated set-up, and allows for instant recall of regular jobs from memory.

According to Trish Chintella, Vice President & General Manager, "The BQ-470 and HT-101 have helped us gain tremendous efficiency in our short-run bookbinding, with no compromise in quality."

The binder sits alongside a Standard Horizon StitchLiner 5500 saddlestitching line that Cadmus purchased last year. The sale was completed by Standard dealer Standard Graphics Mid-Atlantic of Elkridge, MD.

Cenveo, Inc. is the third largest graphics communication company in North America and a leading provider of print and visual communications, with one-stop services from design through fulfillment.

Total Printing Systems, based in Newton, IL, recently added a Standard Hunkeler Roll-to-Cut/Stack system running in-line with the Screen Truepress Jet520. Featuring the UW6 unwinder, CS6-II rotary cutter with chip-out, SE6 offset stacker module, and LS6 non-stop stacker, the system delivers straight and fully separated book blocks for near-line finishing and runs at speeds up to 420 fpm.

"This new roll-to-stack solution has dramatically lowered our paper waste and the downtime associated with cleaning and re-alignment", says owner  Rich Lindemann. "We're very pleased that this equipment is allowing us to meet tighter customer deadlines while providing excellent book quality."

The company also owns Standard Horizon BQ-460 and BQ-470 Perfect Binding and StitchLiner 5500 Saddlestitching systems. Total Printing Systems is a family-owned digital book manufacturer and offers full-service printing and finishing capabilities.

Integrity Graphics, Inc. of Windsor, CT has installed a new Standard Horizon BQ-470PUR automated floor-model binder at their full-service bindery. The four-clamp binder employs intelligent automation from end-to-end, and has PUR capability for the ultimate in binding strength, durability and flexibility.

According to Joseph E. LaValla, president, The BQ-470 is a welcomed addition to our plant. It enables us to produce superior-quality, digitally printed books that exceed customer expectations and enables us to do so at a fair price." He added, "At Integrity, our mission is to employ state-of-the-art materials and technologies to achieve consistently high caliber products. Acquiring the Standard Horizon BQ-470 gives us the leading edge in perfect binding and allows us to best serve the needs of our customers quickly and efficiently."
