Bremer, Tenet Headline WOA Meeting
GRAPEVINE, TX—Paul Bremer, former Ambassador to Iraq and a long-time Washington insider, received a standing ovation from an audience of nearly 700 attendees following his speech that kicked off the 53rd annual Web Offset Association (WOA) conference held here recently.
This was followed by a speech by Goss International CEO Robert Brown, who challenged WOA and its members to focus on increasing the share of web offset printing and to target marketing originators about the effectiveness of the printed piece.
Former CIA Director George Tenet was the keynote speaker on the second day. Some of the other speakers who shared the podium during the general sessions were Ronnie Davis, PIA/GATF chief economist; Steve Zuccarini, InnerWorkings; Barry Meinerth, Time Inc.; and Camille Keith of Southwest Airlines.
Additionally, the association announced the changing of its officers at the meeting. Ed Majerczak, of Berlin Industries, turned over the helm of chairman of the board to Transcontinental Printing's Ralph Pontillo, and Mike Neroni, Day International, relinquished his role as chairman of the supplier advisory board to Bill Miller, Flint Ink.
William Hogg Jr., executive vice president of Valassis Manufacturing, received the highly regarded Harry V. Quadracci VISION Award, and Al Hutton, Publishers Printing, was recognized for the completion of his term on the board.
The 2006 WOA conference is slated to be held May 22-24 in Orlando.
