BCT Reports Positive 2011 Sales for Wholesale Print Business
FORT LAUDERDALE, FL—Feb. 27, 2012—BCT, the largest wholesale printer in North America, announced positive 2011 sales results on the heels of receiving the number one ranking by Print Professional magazine in both the Commercial Print Category and the Digital Print Category.
Peter Posk, president, stated, “2011 turned out to be a very good year for us across North America. These results are due to a number of factors. Digital and offset full-color printing continue to be growth areas for our plants. Additionally, our commercial/B-to-B segment has been a steady and dependable contributor, fueled by the adoption of orderprinting.com by many of our print broker customers.”
The company noted that 2011 closed on a high note, due in part to the launch of a national advertising campaign in November. The campaign featured a weekly giveaway of Apple’s iPad2. Posk believes this weekly drawing is attracting new interest in BCT’s product offering. This contributed to an increase in sales numbers in December, a historically slower month.
“In December, we had 15 plants that showed strong double-digit growth,” Posk observed. “Plants in Mississippi, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Tennessee, Illinois, Georgia, Arizona, Washington, Colorado, Minnesota, Ohio, Texas as well as Ontario and Nova Scotia, Canada, really delivered.
“To note particularly strong performers, Washington’s (sales) were up over 45 percent, Texas over 30 percent and Illinois over 60 percent. Our largest single plant, in Indiana, also came in with strong sales growth, approaching a 10 percent increase, which is not easy to do when considering their high sales volume,” he added.
Other BCT insiders recognize that with these results, it would be tempting for the company to jump into the commodity game, but realized that this type of reaction did not facilitate long-term growth. Rather, BCT has stayed focused on utilizing and implementing its core strengths.
Ben Fretti, senior vice president, explained, “By focusing on our core strengths—largest network of plants, high service, great Web-to-print technologies, low/no shipping costs and fast turnaround—we were able to leverage what we do and deliver strong sales results.”
The BCT team is dedicated to following through in 2012 with this mantra.
“In 2012, we will stay committed to our overriding goal to help our print resellers take care of their customers and make more money by using BCT,” Fretti confirmed.
