Ballantine Corp. Helps Saint Peter’s College Exceed its Fundraising Goal

WAYNE, NJ—June 27, 2012—The Ballantine Corp., a New Jersey-based full-service direct mail company, has released its “June Case Study,” which focuses on how Saint Peter’s College vastly exceeded its fundraising goal as a result of taking an integrated approach to marketing.

Saint Peter’s College, located in Jersey City, NJ, approached Ballantine with a unique idea for a fundraising campaign. In honor of the college’s 140th anniversary, Saint Peter’s wanted to recruit 140 donors in one day.

The strategy behind “Let’s Get it Done, June 1” was to build buzz and awareness leading up to the June 1 giving date. This was accomplished using three postcard mailings, four email blasts, social media and personalized URLs (pURLs). Ballantine handled the printing, mailing, email blasts and pURLs, as well as provided the creative for the email and PURL landing page.

A series of three targeted postcard mailers and email blasts were distributed at a variety of intervals during the month of May to specific demographics within the Saint Peter’s alumni and donor database, then a final message was issued on May 31 to remind people to donate the next day.

A pURL was included in the postcard mailers and the email blasts that led to a landing page that included information on the campaign and a pre-populated form so users could opt-in to receive a reminder about the event. Finally, social media outlets—including Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIN—were leveraged to connect to alumni and alumni groups that use these tools.

Supporters truly answered the call and the 24-hour long, first-ever historic event exceeded original targets, with a final count of 382 donors and $90,939 raised for the college. The combination of multiple touches over multiple media outlets was the key to success for Saint Peter’s.
