Custom-built Presses For Package Printer

AUSTRIA—At the Alfred Wall package printing plant in Graz, and its sister plant in Oland at Bydgoszzcz, Poland, special versions of KBA Rapida 130 and 105 multi-color sheetfed offset presses with double coaters are now in operation.

The plant in Austria received a seven-color Rapida 130 and a six-color Rapida 105; the facility in Poland has installed an identical six-color Rapida 105. All machines also have dryers.

Alfred Wall prints cartons and flexible packaging for large export markets stretching mainly in Eastern Europe and the Near East. Sheetfed offset, as well as rotogravure printing and in-line rotary and flatbed diecutting, are in use.

Concentrating on Web Offset Production

ITALY—At Roto 3, of Castino Primo, a 32-page MAN Roland Lithoman web offset press is partnered with a 16-page, Italian-made Nebiolo press and a new 32-page Mitsubishi web press from Japan. All plates are handled by a Luscher system from Switzerland.

Digital Color Press Moves into Europe

ENGLAND—The Japanese-built Dainippon Screen TruePress digital color press system is finding rapid acceptance in Europe. After being shown at DRUPA 2000, the machines are going into Britain at the rate of one machine per month.

The first of four machines for the country has been installed at prepress and printing company Reprographics, of Hemel Hempstead, north of London.

Japanese Sheetfed Machines Installed

ENGLAND—Since DRUPA 2000, four of the new larger format Sakurai Oliver 572 full-color sheetfed offset presses have been installed in British plants. The machine has been sold to Vario Press, of Langley. The machines have double-size impression and transfer cylinders.

Book Manufacturer Gets New Equipment

GERMANY—At Media-Print, a British-built Timsons T 48A web offset book press ordered at DRUPA 2000 is now in operation.

The book manufacturing plant also operates Heidelberg and MAN Roland sheetfed offset presses, as well as a Xerox DocuTech 6180 black-and-white unit and an Indigo digital color printing machine.

CTP System First of The New Generation

SWITZERLAND—Buchs Media is the first user of the new Agfa Galileo Talant computer-to-plate system. The printer, located near the borders of Austria and Liechtenstein, uses Agfa Mistral thermal plates.
