The Future is Color: Huncolor from Hunkeler

April 2008
WIKON, SWITZERLAND—04/17/08—Besides presenting lines at its booth, Hunkeler will also showcase a number of lines with well known printer and inserting partners.

Hunkeler will demonstrate its considerable know-how in the areas of Digital Pre/Postfinishing and Web-Finishing. With the introduction of the new brand “huncolor-ready” Hunkeler recognizes the trend to color in digital high speed printing, seen especially in the transactional and transpromotional segments.

Among the new systems will be the FM6, a combination module for plow folding and web merging in one machine for the direct mail market, as well as the WM6-Uneven, a slit-merge solution for the dynamic production of jobs with even and uneven numbers of sheets.

Highlight of the new product line will be the premiere of the Hunkeler Generation POPP7 for inline finishing of paper webs up to 670mm. With this generation of modules Hunkeler is ready for the wider digital printing system coming to market soon, and ready for the challenges of the near future.

For Web-Finishing the theme “smart products” is in the center of attention. RFID applications like smart labels, smart luggage tags, or smart tickets for product, animal, and person identification are implemented at an increasing level. For the production of such “smart products’ Hunkeler has developed the Matrix Rewind Module MR 520-W. The MR 520-W is used for the removal of die-cut matrix and can optionally rewind the finished smart products into rolls.

The circle of paper finishing is closed with the waste extraction systems and shredders from Hunkeler Systeme AG. A Compact Unit HKU 4500 and a large customized solution represent the portfolio of the company from small standardized systems to highly adapted custom solutions. Center of the applications showcased will be the new frequency converter technology for a significant reduction of energy usage and a new non-contact web cleaning system.

Besides the new machine generation POPP7 Hunkeler will also show the Web Merger WM6-Uneven for job dynamic separation with even and uneven number of pages.
