Allied Printing Bolsters Offset and Digital Press Arsenal

February 21, 2014
MANCHESTER, CT—John Sommers Jr., president and CEO of Allied Printing Services, announced the purchase of two new KBA Rapida 106 high-speed presses to its extensive array of printing capabilities. Allied is also adding two new Canon imagePRESS 7010 digital presses, significantly expanding its digital services.

The new KBA presses can print sheet sizes up to 29x41˝ in six colors plus aqueous coating, at speeds up to 20,000 sheets/hr. One of the new machines is a hybrid UV press, with the ability to run and cure UV inks in any unit with overall and spot UV coating. Both presses will have inline color management and control to ensure consistent quality. They can handle a wide range of printing substrates from lightweight paper to heavy board. The first press is scheduled to arrive from Germany on May 4, and should be producing work for Allied’s clients in early July.

The two Canon 7010 digital presses print four-color process and can handle variable data. One has an inline bookletmaker with trimming. The new presses give Allied an arsenal of seven Canon digital presses along with one HP Indigo 5600 and two HP large-format digital printers.

“These capital expenditures will increase our capacity and make Allied more efficient and productive for our customers,” Sommers said. “We have positioned ourselves for future growth and success through investments in our people, equipment and technology.”
