BIRMINGHAM—Community Newspaper Holdings has purchased a 14-unit double-around press from Dauphin Graphic Machines. The six DGM 850 units and two DGM 860 towers will be used to print The Sharon Herald and The New Castle News, both in Pennsylvania.

MONTGOMERY—Davis Printing has implemented Printcafe's PSI print management system.

NAPA—Label printer Jonergin Pacific completed a full conversion to CRC Information Systems' THE System accounting package in just one week.

OXNARD—Ventura Printing is now producing pocket folders, CD wallets, packaging and boxes using a new Kluge UniFold folding and gluing system. The employee-owned company has been in business for 56 years.

SAN PEDRO—A four-color Komori Lithrone 20 sheetfed press has been installed at Press Graphix.

DENVER—A fully automated five-color, 20x28˝ Sakurai 572EDII press has been installed at Turbo Press. This is the third Sakurai press purchased by the company.

TORRINGTON—Commercial and screen printer McCoy Limited is implementing CRC Information Systems' THE System management software. McCoy purchased a fully integrated software solution including the commercial estimating, dynamic scheduling and finished goods inventory modules.

georgia

ATLANTA—Artcraft Graphic Productions has installed two Sakurai machines—a Sakurai 272EPIIH and 572EDII. The two half-size presses have transitioned Artcraft from a prepress company to a full-service printer.

MARIETTA—H&W Printing has installed a four-color Komori Lithrone 28 sheetfed press.

BROADVIEW—The Lehigh Press has introduced new e-business tools to its Website. Lehigh MailTrak offers customers Internet-based reporting tools that track their mailings throughout the USPS using PLANET Code Confirm technology. Lehigh NetProof v.3 allows clients to mark up online any changes that might be required.

GLENDALE HEIGHTS—A five-color Komori Lithrone 26 with coater and a two-color Komori Lithrone 26 have been installed at Ellton Printing.

WOODRIDGE—Foil Printing Plus, a specialty printing company that does foil stamping, holograms, embossing and diecutting for greeting cards and presentation folders, recently installed a Kluge EHD Plus press.

FREDERICK—Von Hoffmann has added a Purup-Eskofot EskoScan 2636 scanner and a Muller Martini Bravo-S saddle stitcher to its manufacturing division based here.

ROCKVILLE—EU Services is part of the second phase of the United States Postal Service's rollout of MERLIN (Mailing Evaluation Readability Lookup Instrument). It is designed as a mail verification device, checking everything from barcode readability to mail sortation levels and tray tag readability.

BOSTON—Arthur Blank Co. is up- and-running with a new four-color Komori Lithrone 40 press.

NEW BEDFORD—Command Print Solutions has installed a six-color Komori Lithrone 28.

missouri

SAINT LOUIS—Lander Binding & Finishing has purchased a 42˝ Sanwa 1060SE high-speed diecutter. The installation was performed by Independent Machinery.

FREEPORT—A new four-color Komori Lithrone 28 has been installed at Three Star Offset.

NEW YORK CITY—Copytone Visual Communications, a 44-year-old family owned custom photo lab, digital imaging, prepress and printing company, has relocated to 8 West 38th Street. Copytone has signed a 15-year lease at this location, which gives the company 50 percent more space.

ROCHESTER—Monroe Litho is up-and-running with Printcafe's Logic SQL print management system.

north Carolina

HICKORY—Catawba Valley Community College will enroll students this spring in its new Graphic Arts and Imaging Technology (GAIT) associate degree program. The GAIT associate degree gives students technical and hands-on experience. Local printers had actually approached the college for help in preparing and finding workers for the printing industry.

CLEVELAND—Dempsey Printing was awarded a Gold Trophy at the recent 2002 Design of the Times competition. The company was honored for its EZeasel countertop display for OfficeMax featuring Canon copiers.

SEBRING—MPI Label Systems has installed the latest generation of the smart tag, ticket and label production system manufactured by Melzer GmbH and distributed by Innovative Equipment.

LANCASTER—Acorn Press has implemented Printcafe's Hagen OA print management system.

PHILADELPHIA—Pearl Pressman Liberty Communications Group has installed a 40˝ Mitsubishi Model 3F-16 press featuring a tower coater, extended delivery, automated plate changing and Mitsubishi's Delta dampening system. This is the seventh Mitsubishi press for Pearl Pressman.

MANASSAS—Commercial printer Lake Lithograph has signed a deal to implement "THE System" business management software from CRC Information Systems. Lake Lithograph will implement a fully integrated software solution including commercial estimating and e-commercial quotation entry modules.

wisconsin

CUDAHY—Reminder Printing has purchased a four-color Hamada B452A press from distributor Best Graphics.

EAU CLAIRE—Johnson Litho Graphics has installed a six-color Komori System 20 half-size web press.

LITTLE CHUTE—JP Graphics has made several purchases from Heidelberg. The new equipment includes a two-color Printmaster 74 perfector, a Prosetter 74 CTP system and the Meta Dimension workflow system.

WAUNAKEE, WI—Suttle-Straus has installed a half-size Mitsubishi Diamond 8 six-unit web press and a 40˝ 3F-16 six-color sheetfed press, representing an investment of more than $6 million.
