CALIFORNIA
BUENA PARK—Ernest A. Lindner, printer, collector and founder of the International Printing Museum, passed away on October 2.


BURBANK—Richard Rice, president of Candlelight Press, announced that two long-term employees, Richard Alonzo and James Magdaleno, are the USA National Print Olympics champions. The competition was held during PRINT 01 in Chicago, where the contestants were evaluated on their offset press skills. Alonzo and Magdaleno qualified for the national event after winning the western regional competition. They will contend for an international championship at IPEX, held in Birmingham, England, in April 2002.

SAN RAMON—K/P Corp. recently announced a collaboration with Ariba Inc., a business-to-business e-commerce solutions provider, that enables K/P to offer its Web fulfillment and ClickOn printing services through the Ariba Commerce Services Network. K/P's Web fulfillment sites offer companies a way to manage literature and product distribution programs online. The ClickOn ordering system allows customers to customize and order business cards, letterhead, envelopes and other business stationery items via the Internet.

CONNECTICUT
WINDSOR—Integrity Graphics is running a new Komori Lithrone sheetfed press equipped with a ColorCommand temperature control/cooling system from TriService.

DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA
WASHINGTON—Peake Printers was a gold sponsor of AIDS Walk Washington 2001 recently. In addition to donating in-kind printing services, Peake Printers formed an internal team of walkers for the event.

FLORIDA
CLEARWATER—Color Spectrum Printing has expanded its facility to 12,000 square feet and installed an eight-color SuperWeb 205 UV web press. It is equipped with Prime UV interstation curing units, and a Perretta Graphics ink control system with console and plate scanner. The new press complements Color Spectrum's six-color sheetfed operation. Other equipment installed included a Baum 726 continuous feed folder, C.P. Bourg Modulen 11-station collator/stitcher and a Heidelberg Polar cutter.

HOLLYWOOD—A second 40˝ Komori Lithrone press has been installed at Crooks Printing. The unit is a fully automated, six-color machine with in-line coater and Komori's PDC-S scanning spectrodensitometer.

MIAMI—3 Dimension Graphics has installed its second Komori press, a six-color Lithrone 40.

ILLINOIS
CHICAGO—Jeffrey P. Diemand, president of Diemand Printing, announced the installation of a new eight-color Heidelberg Speedmaster 102 8-P-5 sheetfed perfecting press in the company's South Loop manufacturing facility. Diemand says the press will allow the company to produce high-quality work with the cost and productivity of a web press, while offering sheetfed press scheduling flexibility.

NILES—In conjunction with PRINT 01, Universal Press President Jory Siegel participated in a panel discussion at an APM Seminars event for 25 visiting Japanese printing executives. The group later visited the Universal facility to see its recently completed 36,000-square-foot addition.
