QR Codes Being Used More Around Rochester to Provide Information

At first, visitors to the Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival may have thought they were looking at a picture of a flying spaghetti monster. A display, measuring 4 feet by 4 feet, was in fact a code — but not a secret one. It was a QR code, which first appeared in Japan in 1994. The two-dimensional code can be scanned both horizontally and vertically. But the real selling point is that smart phones, like the Apple iPhone and Motorola Droid, can scan the code, guiding the user to websites and additional information.
