Printing Firm Takeover Offsets ‘Sunset’ Industry: CEO

The acquisition of National Printers in Ottawa is the easiest path to growth as printing margins fall, says the head of Sisca Group. “The printing industry is a sunset industry...there is no organic growth,” said Usman Shaikh, chief executive of the Montreal-based group that also includes printer Sisca Business Solutions, more than a dozen digital centres operating under brands like Copie Express, and real estate holdings.

“There is nothing left any more, so the way we can get growth is through acquisition and consolidation. That was the motivation behind it.”
