Ball State University offered $400,000 to buy the building housing the Hiatt Printing shop (Muncie, IN), which made a counter offer to sell the property for $1,250,000, according to court documents. In September, Ball State filed an eminent domain lawsuit to take the property from David, Jane and Chris Hiatt after they rejected an offer of $400,000 plus financial assistance.
Chris Hiatt declined to participate in mediation, and his attorneys have filed a motion asking Delaware Circuit Court 1 Judge Marianne Vorhees to dismiss the condemnation lawsuit.
At a conference this week, Vorhees scheduled a one-day hearing for Jan. 10.
